MEET THE ORCHESTRA

JESSICA WOOLDRIDGE-KING | bassoon

Jessica Wooldridge-King has played the bassoon for Symphoria since 2011. Her teachers include John Hunt at the Eastman School of Music, and Lynn Hileman and Terry Ewell at West Virginia University. She has played in Master classes for Christopher Millard, Gilbert Audin, and Whitney Crockett and has performed on the Zankel Hall stage at Carnegie Hall with the new music ensemble Broadband.

Jessica has taught bassoon and music courses at Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, PA and at SUNY University at Buffalo. Currently she is enjoying playing music composed for bassoon and electronics by the Hungarian composer, Miklos Maros. She believes that music has the power to move people and build communities, and supports living composers who can leave a legacy for future generations. She believes that symphonic music is one of the ways humans work together to make a whole that is worth more than the sum of its parts.

Jessica enjoys many other activities like reading science fiction and gardening. She recently attended her first Crunch game and was impressed by the intensity of the experience and the enthusiasm of the crowd!
