MEET THE ORCHESTRA
YUQIAN ZHANG | violin
Yuqian Zhang was born in 1990 in Leshan, China. As a global traveler, Yuqian has performed in China, Italy, France, and the United States. She graduated in 2013 with a BM in violin performance from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in China. Yuqian received her first Master’s degree from San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2015 and she received her second Master’s degree in Chamber Music at SFCM, studying with Bettina Mussumeli. While studying at SFCM, Yuqian performed in masterclasses for Midori Gotō, Pamela Frank, and Feng Ning, as well as for internationally renowned chamber music groups like the Kronos Quartet and the Danish String Quartet. She has also collaborated in performance with musicians in the St. Lawrence and Borromeo String Quartets, and with SFCM faculty Bettina Mussumeli, Jodi Levitz and Jean-Michel Fonteneau. Since 2016 Yuqian has played with The Orchestra Now, three years as a concertmaster, in New York area venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rose Theater, Fisher center at Bard. etc.
