MEET THE ORCHESTRA
SUSAN JACOBS | violin
Susan Jacobs, a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, continued her studies with such notable teachers as Dorothy Delay at Julliard and Franco Gulli in Sienna, Italy. She performed as a member of the American Symphony Orchestra under Leopold Stokowski and pursued chamber music studies with the esteemed Hungarian and Guarneri Quartets. She joined the Syracuse Symphony in 1969 as a member of the first violin section and as First Violinist in the Syracuse Symphony String Quartet. Sue is well known in Central New York as a performer, educator and chamber musician. She is currently a member of the first violin section in Symphoria.
Sue’s off-stage pursuits include the development of a violin class at the Syracuse Hebrew Day School and a vibrant string program at the Manlius Pebble Hill School. As a New York state certified music teacher, Sue participated in an innovative government grant project, integrating music and education in the Syracuse City School system.
In her spare time, Sue can be found unplugging in the great outdoors, often at Green Lakes State Park or in the Adirondacks looking for magical photo ops. Summers are spent caring for her awesome perennial meditation garden, an inner city haven for wildlife, birds, family and friends. The proud grandmother of three lovely children, Sue hits the road and drives downstate whenever possible to enjoy a well-deserved grand-kid fix.
