Ellen Sonnenberg

Ellen Sonnenberg is a violinist from Wisconsin currently pursuing her Masters Degree at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.  She is majoring in Violin Performance and studying with Professor Juliana Athayde.  She also completed her Bachelors Degree at Eastman in 2016, studying with Professor Federico Agostini. She spent two years as a Concertmaster at Eastman, serving in the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, Eastman Opera Orchestra, and the Eastman Philharmonia. Ellen participated in the Collegium Musicum Summer Academy, 2014 and 2015, at Weissenstein Castle in Pommersfelden, Germany, serving as principle second violin and soloing with the chamber orchestra.  In addition, she has attended summer festivals at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Green Lake Festival of Music, and the Orford Academy of Music.  She has performed in solo masterclasses with Stephen Clapp, Simone Bernardini, Blair Milton and Paul Kantor, and has performed in chamber masterclasses or been coached by the Ying and Pacifica Quartets, Lila Brown, Jorja Fleezanis and Joel Smirnoff.

Outside of music, she also enjoys running, yoga, and exploring parks in Upstate New York.  She is so excited to be a new core member of Symphoria this year!
