Jillian Honn held the principal oboe chair of Symphoria through the 2018-19 season, a position she won at just 20. An avid chamber musician, she has participated in the LaVeck Concert Series, Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music, a Little Summer Music in Vienna, and Sunset Concerts. Additionally, her wind quintet, The Eclectet, has been awarded several grants and residencies in public schools and spaces within Upstate New York. Formed in 2012, The Eclectet represents the next generation of chamber music performers, offering concert experiences that are interactive and meaningful for all audiences, while also experimenting with more contemporary compositions.
Most recently, Jillian was the recipient of Civic Morning Musicals' 2018 award for Excellence in Music Performance in Central New York, and has had the continued honor of being a guest soloist and principal oboist of the Skaneateles Festival. In addition to Symphoria, Honn has been a guest musician with the Rochester Philharmonic, Buffalo Philharmonic, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony among others. A recent graduate of the Eastman School of Music (BM, PC, ALP '16), Jillian maintains a private oboe studio, teaches at Hamilton and LeMoyne Colleges, and previously served as the Music Librarian for Symphoria.
