Silent film meets symphonic masterpieces in this performance, at the Palace Theater on James Street.  Symphoria begins its celebration of women's suffrage with this performance, focusing on music of female composers and film makers, including Lisa Gerrard, Julia Wolfe, and Amy Beach.

Violet Moncavage, Film Contest Winner

The winner of our silent film contest, which was focused on themes of freedom, liberty, and in particular women as change makers, is Marcellus High School senior, Violet Moncavage.  Her film "Make Your Change" was selected from over 250 contest entries from 30 different countries around the world.  Make Your Change will be screened with live soundtrack, consisting of Pulitzer Prize winning composer Jennifer Higdon's Sky Rising, from her Sky Quartet, performed by the Symphoria String Quartet.
